My Favorite Quote of All Time

I don't do favorites, and questions like this are why. Quotes are very situational things; a quote that is perfect for one set of circumstances or place in life might be almost meaningless in another.

There are certain quotes that have a tendency to pop up repeatedly; one with good staying value for me is one from Lord Byron's "Childe Harold's Pilgrimage." The ironic thing is, I've known it for half my life, and used it as my high school senior quote, but I heard only the first half of the quote. The second half I encountered only in the last year or so, and it adds an entirely different dimension that I think fits where I am now. I'm kinda of glad I had the gradual revelation of the quote — "And what is writ, is write — would it were worthier! But I am not now that which I have been."

Another that I've liked for a very long time has the benefit of being from one of my favorite movies — “Vivir con miedo, es como vivir a medias!” One that I try to aspire to.
