Third Time’s Charm

So here I am again.

Earlier this evening, I was standing on a pier in Titusville, Fla., looking across the river at the two shuttle launch pads, each with a shuttle on it.

I ate supper at Dogs R Us, and it didn’t seem so long since I’d last been there, a year and a half ago.

But I had the realization that I may have to make it back much sooner, depending on the events of the next three days — it’s very possible that waiting another year and a half may not be an option.

So here I am again, hoping that this time is different. Hoping that the third time’s the charm.

To be honest, I’m not letting myself believe it. Almost everything is looking good — save “slight” concerns about the weather at the emergency landing site in Moron, Spain. But everything has looked good on T -1 day before. So I’m not getting my hopes up. My expectation is that this trip will be like the last two.

But, really, how cool would it be if it wasn’t?
